On September 18 in Thiès, the Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, Mr. Birame Souleye Diop, officially launched the first national edition of the Mining Sector Open Days (JPO).

This event, held from September 18 to 26 across Senegal, aims to establish an inclusive dialogue between the State, mining operators, local authorities, civil society, and local communities around the responsible and sustainable exploitation of resources.

Eramet Grande Côte (EGC) is proud to take part in this initiative, which marks a key step toward greater transparency, inclusion, and collective responsibility in the governance of the mining sector.

Its commitment revolves around three priorities:

  • Contributing to Senegal’s economic development
  • Creating local jobs and strengthening skills
  • Promoting a responsible mining model that respects communities and the environment

At the official opening, Frédéric Zanklan, EGC’s Managing Director, represented the company and reaffirmed its determination to work hand in hand with all stakeholders for a sustainable and inclusive mining sector.
