Eramet Grande Côte (EGC), in partnership with Women In Africa Philanthropy (WIA), has officially launched the 3rd cohort of the Women of the Future program, marking a new milestone in its commitment to women’s economic empowerment in Senegal.
Objective: giving Women the keys to their economic development
Since its inception, Women of the Future Senegal has already supported nearly 400 women entrepreneurs and aims to assist 615 women by the end of 2026.
Beyond technical training, the program seeks to strengthen financial autonomy, self-confidence, and leadership among participants, enabling them to become sustainable drivers of local development.
As EGC’s Managing Director emphasized, this initiative aims to equip women as “agents of development,” providing them with skills tailored to their projects and ambitions.
Toward inclusive development — from city centers to rural areas
After two cohorts focused on urban areas such as Dakar, Thiès, and Louga, the 3rd edition of Women of the Future reflects a commitment to expand into rural zones, with a particular focus on Louga. The goal: reach women often excluded from traditional support systems and give them the means to develop entrepreneurial activities locally.
This strategy confirms EGC’s ambition to make female entrepreneurship a lever for inclusive and sustainable economic development.
Since the program’s launch, more than 500 women have already benefited from Women of the Future — some of whom have become local role models in entrepreneurship and leadership.
For this 3rd cohort, the emphasis is on supporting women in rural areas across diverse sectors — crafts, agro-food processing, small businesses, and more. The dual objective: foster viable economic projects and amplify the social and community impact of participating women.
An initiative aligned with social responsibility and territorial impact
The Women of the Future program is fully aligned with Eramet’s CSR and societal impact policy: through initiatives like this, the company reaffirms its role as a committed actor, not only in mining operations but also in Senegal’s economic and social development.
By supporting female entrepreneurship, EGC contributes to diversifying local economic activities, promoting inclusion, encouraging financial autonomy, and creating new opportunities for women — whether in urban or rural settings.
With the launch of this new cohort, Eramet Grande Côte renews its commitment to fostering women’s economic empowerment and driving inclusive, sustainable development rooted in local communities.
The Women of the Future program is a concrete illustration of Eramet’s determination to go beyond the strictly mining framework and actively, responsibly contribute to Senegal’s social and economic progress.
