This Sunday, February 22, around 2:00 PM, a fire broke out at the WCP (Wet Concentration Plant), the extraction plant at our Diogo mining site.

This plant, located on a floating barge, was immediately evacuated, and a safety perimeter was established. No casualties have been reported.

The territorial and administrative authorities were promptly informed of the fire. Thanks to the swift and coordinated intervention of our internal response teams (ERT – Emergency Response Team), supported by firefighters from the Kébémer, Guéoul, Louga, and Saint-Louis fire stations, the fire has now been extinguished.

The intervention teams remain fully mobilized to cool down the site’s installations.

A dedicated information system has been set up to inform all neighboring communities about the situation and ensure regular communication.

The safety of employees, subcontractors, and surrounding communities remains the top priority.

Investigations will be conducted in the coming hours to understand the causes of this fire and assess its impact on the site’s operations.

Eramet Grande Côte remains fully committed to managing this situation responsibly and transparently and will provide further updates as soon as additional information becomes available.
