An optimized mining transport system by rail

From the project’s inception, the decision was made to use the railway to transport mining products between the Diogo plant and the Dakar port. As the concessionaire of part of the railway line between Mékhé and Dakar, Eramet Grande Côte constructed an additional 22-kilometer section to connect the plant to the Mékhé station.

Upon arrival in Dakar, the products are stored in Eramet Grande Côte’s port facilities before being shipped by boat to our clients around the world.

A comprehensive railway security plan

Eramet Grande Côte has implemented a security program along the railway line, including the installation of fences in inhabited areas near the railway, the setup of safety barriers, and the recruitment of traffic agents. Since the safety of neighboring populations is a fundamental commitment for Eramet Grande Côte, each measure is undertaken in coordination with local authorities near the railway line.
